In order to work alongside his mother in the lab, the service dog learns how to wear spectacles.

Sweet service dog Effie picked up lab work skills from helping his mother, a neurologist. The golden retriever is the first canine to get access to a lab in Joley’s Ph.D. program at the University of Illinois in the United States.

He helps me pick anything up in the lab if I miss something and he reminds me of it. I couldn’t finish my neuroscience program or kept up my grades without your help. Joley has long argued in favor of allowing service dogs in labs, saying that the prohibition has discouraged many students from participating in experiments.

The regulations that finally grant him admission to the institution demand that Effie dresses like a human and be constantly visible to Joley. Effie also had to learn how to gather goods when his mother urged him to do so as he slept for roughly four hours on a plaster mattress.

The golden retriever is quite adorable with his frock and collar, but his mother doesn’t want that to overshadow the importance of his college education. Smart, yes?
