In late January, a passerby took this puppy off the streets and brought it to a shelter. Even experienced staff members were surprised by the dog’s behavior.
The dog spends the entire day sitting and gazing out the window, perhaps waiting for someone to come collect him. The shelter said on Facebook, “Every time someone goes by, he stretches his full body forward, then droops when he realizes the person is gone.”
The dog was obviously not a stray, but until it was established that its owner was an old man who had recently passed away, little was known about him. The dog had not only lost his owner but also a longtime friend with whom he had shared a house, which was also disclosed to the shelter.
The dog’s story affected others on social media. On the dog’s Facebook posting, more than 2,000 individuals sent comments. In order to help the dog find a new home, the shelter asked that people post about him on social media.
The story was read by more than 3,000 people, which helped the cause. In the closing days of January, the wonderful news was delivered: the puppy had been located! Before locating the dog’s owner, the shelter staff had to review every application for around seven hours. The shelter is ecstatic with the turn of events for one of its residents and is hopeful that the new owner will be able to help the dog mend its spiritual scars.
