Sarge, a 9-year-old German Shepherd, adopted and cared for a large number of orphaned fawns.

The remarkable capacity of dogs to be so kind, compassionate, and loyal will always be an object of people’s adoration. Their large hearts are open to others who require comfort, care, or protection.

It relates not just to individuals, but also to other living things.

Sarge, a German Shepherd, is a kind dog who pities orphaned young fawns. Cheryl Stephan, her owner, is a kind woman who has adopted numerous orphaned animals over the years, including some little fawns.

Sarge was kind and gentle with all of the adoptive animals, but he had a special soft spot for Buckheat, Cheryl’s first orphaned fawn.

When Sarge first encountered this small creature, he felt a surge of warmth in his heart. He took to this deer right away and eventually became his protector. Buckwheat’s care was aided by the sweet dog in every way. He assumed the crucial role of “mom” to the fawn right away.

The dog followed the deer wherever he went, just to be sure Buckheat was all right. Sarge had to go out and find the fawn as he grew up and became independent, striking out on his own.

Cheryl had no choice except to release Buckheat into the wild as he got stronger. That made nice dog terribly sad. Even his owner believed he would never be as affectionate with other animals as he was with this one.

Fortunately, she was mistaken. Sarge’s sympathy returned as soon as Cheryl brought in more fawns for rehabilitation. He rapidly took on the role of babysitter for these amazing creatures.
