For 15 hours, a deaf and partially blind old dog defends a lost small girl and assists rescuers in finding her.

Aurora, a three-year-old girl, was reported missing to the police by her family. Her relatives claim that the girl left the house alone and vanished.

The authorities began exploring the wild areas and hills around the Southern Downs in Queensland, but were unable to locate the girl. More than a hundred volunteers from the State Emergency Service and city citizens joined the effort on Saturday morning.

Aurora, who had spent almost 15 hours on the top of a hill thickly overgrown with shrubs, was only discovered at 8:00 p.m.

Aurora’s grandma, Leisa Bennett, initially heard the girl’s feeble voice. She dashed to the crest of the hill, where she encountered a dog who directed her to the girl.

Max, a 17-year-old deaf and nearly blind dog, was the culprit.

The dog had spent the entire night next to Aurora, warming her with his body while waiting for aid to arrive. Despite the chilly and humid temperature, the girl remained unharmed, with the exception of dehydration and a few scrapes. Aurora reeked like a dog since she had spent the night cuddling Max. According to the police report, the missing youngster was discovered two kilometers from her home on her family’s private property.

Despite the close vicinity, finding Aurora proved difficult. The house is situated in a high, densely wooded area. To avoid steep slopes covered in moss and vegetation, volunteers had to go slowly and cautiously. The girl was extraordinarily fortunate to have evaded harm and survived, according to the officials.

Aurora’s family is thankful Max for not abandoning her and for assisting in her rescue. He was given the title of “honorary police dog” for his bravery.
