The event occurred near Exeter, England. Digby, a therapy dog, rescued a young woman who was attempting suicide on a motorway bridge.
The emergency services were dispatched to the location. Firefighters spoke with the woman, but the situation got increasingly dangerous. Digby was proposed by one of the rescue teams as a way to help calm the woman down.
Surprisingly, this helped: the woman turned her head and smiled as soon as he appeared on the scene.
Since 2018, Digby, a cockapoo therapy dog (a cross between a spaniel and a poodle), has worked with the fire department. The young woman accepted the offer to meet the dog and down from the balcony. She was rescued and brought to safety. Psychiatrists are now in charge of her treatment. Following the event, the fire department tweeted a photo of Digby and the narrative.
Digby was featured in several media outlets, and the dog was “showered with love.”
