Parthenogenesis is a process that occurs in a variety of birds and fish, as well as sharks and reptiles. These asexually reproducing chicks, on the other hand, have never been seen before. Experts, on the other hand, are keeping a close eye on them.
Now for something unexpected: female chicks can fertilize without the assistance of male chicks. When there are few or no men in the population, this is very prevalent. Female condors have a lot of choices even in captivity. It’s no less amazing that the chicks hatched and grew up unharmed.
Scientists would not have discovered anything was wrong with them if it hadn’t been for normal paternity tests. When the condors’ guardians learnt of the verdict, they were startled and unable to move.
The DNA of two of the birds was identical to that of their mothers. There was no evidence of paternal DNA!
Despite the fact that sexual reproduction was not restricted in any way, this was the first time a female condor created children without the assistance of a male condor, and the first time a bird had ever produced offspring without the assistance of a male condor.
What happened to the girls who didn’t have a father when they were born? They were able to live long enough to show that this method of reproduction is feasible.
