A parrot that speaks another language and has returned after a long absence is the first bilingual parrot we’ve ever heard about.

Parrots can communicate, as is well known. However, this parrot persuaded me that I had never heard of a multilingual parrot before. This bird disappeared from its owner’s residence in California. The man was shocked to find his bird, which had been found in the same city four years before.

But this time the parrot has a different accent. When he took off, the gray parrot spoke English, but when he was found, he was speaking Spanish. A woman who owns a place for dog grooming found the parrot.

I had never seen a bird so happy. He sang and spoke incoherently. Initially, based on an advertising she had seen, the woman thought it was a lost pet. After a visit to the vet, the woman realized her mistake and started looking for the dog’s rightful owner.

“Did you lose a bird?” I asked when I got there. He first said “no.” But he misunderstood me and thought I meant recently. The woman said, “He looked at me as if I were nuts.”

The man commented, “It’s kind of strange, I knew it was him from the minute I saw him,” and added that he had no idea where his beloved bird had been for the previous four years. The owner’s happiness when he found his bird was evident despite his accent. He declared, “He’s completely well.”
