CAMARILLO, California —A Southern California wildfire has burned 132 structures, largely homes, in less than two days, fire authorities said Thursday, as furious winds were expected to subside.
The fire began Wednesday morning in Ventura County and has spread to around 32 square miles with a 5% containment rate. The cause has not been determined.
Ventura County Sheriff James Fryhoff reported ten persons were injured as a result of the incident. The majority of them suffered from smoke inhalation or other non-life-threatening injuries.Fire officials reported that 88 other structures were damaged, although they did not specify whether they were burned or damaged by water or smoke.
As the Mountain Fire continued to threaten 3,500 properties in suburban neighbourhoods, ranches, and agricultural areas around Camarillo in Ventura County, approximately 10,000 people were still under evacuation orders on Thursday.
