Derek was desperate to find his daughter, Amber, who had vanished a week earlier. Despite police efforts, she appeared to have vanished. Derek couldn’t sleep and was overcome with fear. The official at the police station responded, “As soon as we know something, we will inform you immediately,” but there were no new leads.
On his way home, Derek observed a homeless woman carrying Amber’s rucksack. He approached her and enquired, “Where did you get this?” She responded, “Found it at the bus station; some teenage girl left it behind.” Derek noticed a folded piece of paper inside the rucksack with the address “Hostess Family.” He drove quickly to the address.
When we arrived, a woman at the door confirmed that Amber had not arrived. Derek, feeling lost, decided to go home. While driving, he noticed his ex-wife, Miranda, in a café. Derek approached Miranda, suspecting that Amber had come to visit her. Initially, she denied knowing anything, but when Derek discovered Amber’s inhaler in her luggage, she admitted.
Amber overheard their exchange and fled, prompting Derek to pursue her. He discovered her crying on a bench, and they reconciled. “I’m so sorry, Dad. “I didn’t mean to worry you,” Amber explained. Derek grabbed her tightly and said, “It’s fine. You just wanted to meet your mother. But you’re grounded for two weeks,” he said, attempting to lighten the atmosphere. Amber grinned, feeling secure and loved again.
