Adam was Jen’s father. He had always considered that Jen’s partner Matt was unsuitable for her daughter. Adam had disliked Matt since the first time they met and was always critical of him.
Matt loved Jen and was determined to keep Adam out of their relationship, no matter how many times he tried to wreck it.
Jen would tell Matt that her father will eventually accept him. She told her lover that when her sister got engaged, he did the same thing with her brother-in-law.
Despite Adam’s best efforts to undermine their connection, the rest of the family adored Matt.
They were having dinner at Jen’s parents’ home. She planned to propose while the entire family was present. He had been saving for months for the ring he wanted for Jennifer.
Then he saw Adam was often beaming at him. Matt felt uneasy because he knew Adam was thinking about something.
As Matt was going to propose, Adam stood up. “Before the night slipped away from us, I want to share something with you all!”
“A few days ago, Matt was spotted with another woman. They were in a very intimate setting. “Here are the photos!”
When the television switched on, Matt was surprised to see himself sitting in an intimate position with a woman.
“Dad, I don’t know what your problem is, but this is ridiculous!” Jen stated that she believed her father manufactured these photographs.
Matt had had enough, so he declared that he was going to propose to Jen tonight, but then he had to reconsider his decision.
He walked out of supper and fled the house.
While he was gone, Jen confessed that the woman in the photos was Matt’s sister from their meal together. Jen remarked that if her father’s photographer arrived five minutes late, she would also appear in the photographs.
After Jen and her mother raged at Adam, they explained that he was damaging his daughter’s life and that if he did not restore what he destroyed right away, he would have to live alone in the house. They threatened to leave him alone.
In half an hour, Matt’s door was banged in terror. When he opened the door, Adam was in front of him. He was on his knees, apologising and imploring him to return and propose to his daughter again.
He vowed never to intrude in their relationship again.
Adam ultimately realised that he wasn’t protecting his daughter, but rather damaging her life because she was in love with a man who would love and protect her whatever. He even sought to protect his future wife from his father.
