A firefighter named Pedro Bras posted a photo to Facebook of firefighters laying in the grass in Pedróg Grande, Portugal.
Everyone agrees that working as a firefighter is an extremely vital vocation. I recently experienced a fire at home, which was quickly extinguished and saved by the arriving firemen.
The photo below shows how serious firemen took their jobs.
Recently, there was a terrifying forest fire in Portugal, and 1150 men worked around the clock to keep it from spreading and put it out.
The fire injured approximately 25 firefighters.
Two terrible fires devastated Portugal in June and October of the previous year, killing 114 people.
However, this intriguing image is not about deceased firefighters, as it first appears. It depicts firemen who are fatigued from working in dangerous conditions, resting in the grass to recuperate their strength before returning to work.
Pedro described the event: “After working hard all day and all night, we decided to take a break and relax by the river for a quarter of an hour; at that time, we noticed that the air was thick with smoke.”
According to Pedro, the firefighters took a 25-minute break after working for 24 hours to prevent and extinguish the fire. The photo clearly displays a smoke-filled area.
The temperature reached an all-time high of roughly 46 degrees Celsius on August 5th. About 13 planes flew over the fire and poured water to keep it from spreading, but approximately 160 soldiers were also dispatched to assist with the evacuation attempts.
The snapshot quickly went viral, with approximately 9 thousand user responses, 1,300 comments, and more than 6 thousand shares. Many people expressed gratitude for the firemen’s actions.
Manja Knofel believes that each firefighter is a hero in their own way. Another agreed that they deserved “rest and praise” for their earlier exceptional labour.
Firefighters did everything they could, according to Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa. Several of them died as a result of their injuries.
The police hoped that the previous year’s event would not repeat itself this year.
