A wild elephant pays a visit to the guy who rescued her, showing him her cub.

About 20 years ago, Sulli the elephant was discovered alone in the wild in Africa. She was still a newborn and didn’t have her mother with her at the time. Animal rights advocates assisted in her escape from a wildlife park.

She met Adam, the reserve’s main caretaker, who also acts as the reserve’s owner and, in some ways, as a mother to elephants like her.

‘He organizes the elephants’ daily care and well-being, ensuring that they are always happy and healthy,’ the reserve’s executive director, Robert, said.

By 2009, Sulli had grown to be very self-sufficient, and she left the reserve with her guardians’ permission to live in the wild, in her native surroundings. Despite her newfound independence, she couldn’t help but think about Adam, the guy who had saved and reared her.

‘Despite the fact that Sulli has been out in the wild for almost a decade, she never seems to forget the kindness shown to her,’ Robert said. This was never clearer than when Sulli opted to come out of the woods with her infants to pay a visit to Adam.
