Munchie is a 7-month-old kitten with a unique disease that prevents him from growing much larger.

Munchie is an adult cat who looks like a kitten and barely weighs 1.6 kg.

He will never grow up owing to a rare condition called hypoparathyroidism, which affects just one other cat on the planet. Munchie’s current owner, Emily Tomlinson, 30, first spotted the cat in September of this year. Passers-by discovered him in the park and took him to the veterinary clinic where the woman worked at the time in Wolverhampton.

He appeared to be around 3-4 months old. Previous owners may have dumped the kitten on the street because of “cloudy” eyes, a condition caused by bilateral corneal edema that did not impact eyesight. Munchie was sheltered for a week by Emily. When no one offered to take the kitten home, she made the decision to abandon him for good.

Everything was OK until Munchie became ill at the end of December. Emily brought him to the doctor right away. The results of the examination indicated that the kitten’s calcium level was severely low. No one thought of getting a blood test for hypoparathyroidism at the time. Because the condition is so uncommon.

Everything became evident much later, as did the reality that the infant would require lifelong calcium and vitamin D supplementation. Munchie appears to be an average kitten, according to his owner. On the other hand, there are days when he is silent and scarcely plays.

All of this is related to his sickness, which is characterized by lethargy and fever.

“Munchie is a sweet little kitty. If he wants my attention, he crawls onto my lap, sleeps with me, and rubs his muzzle against my face,” Emily said about her cat. It was “love at first sight,” she claims. She recognized Munchie as her cat as soon as she saw him.
