Sasan Amir, a 27-year-old German photographer, and filmmaker visit the African savannah on a regular basis. There, he shoots stunning photographs and movies with members of the local wildlife.
In his portfolio, predators hold a unique position. Amir recently returned to South Africa, where he encountered an odd story. Sasan had set up a “ambush” from which he was watching the savannah for good shots when he noticed a wild cheetah approaching him. The photographer was frightened but began to stand slowly. He wanted to show predator that he is ready to protect himself.
The cheetah came to a halt and considered its options for a while. And he drew closer to Sasan once more. When the cheetah got near enough, he smelled the photographer, rubbed his head on him, and sat down next to him. “I saw he was eager to converse. Sasan recounts what he witnessed as “he even began to purr like a cat.” It took Amir a few moments to understand what a remarkable scenario had unfolded in front of him.
How fortunate he was to be given the chance to communicate with a wild beast at arm’s length! At the same time, the cheetah was completely calm and showed no signs of aggressiveness. He even licked Amir numerous times to express his love. Fortunately, the camera was nearby, and the photographer was able to capture some interesting photos of a wild predator in action.
That day the cheetah permitted Sasan to pet him. This gave once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interact with nature without risking his life or health.
