After a four-day ice stranding due to a coyote pursuit, a dog finds a lifelong home with his saviour.

Several passers-by observed a little curly dog resting on an ice floe in the middle of the Detroit River. He was plainly freezing and unable to go on his own.

Only icy water and ice surrounded him, while birds of prey and ravenous coyotes occasionally appeared nearby. No one ventured to help the unlucky dog for four days until Jude Mead emerged along the river.

When he spotted the dog, he began to consider how he might save him.
